Vision care

Your benefits are changing for 2018 – see details here. If you are represented by CNA Keck, NUHW Keck, or NUHW Norris, see details here. The content on this page is for 2017 benefits.

Vision Service Plan (VSP) is an optional benefit coverage you can purchase to help you cover the cost of routine eye exams, lenses, and frames/contacts.

Visit the VSP website to find a provider (you can also check your eligibility or view your personal benefits). Then call the provider directly to make an appointment. In order to receive the highest benefit coverage you must verify that the optometrist is a participating VSP Choice Network provider.

Note that the USC Eye Institute is a VSP provider, and it has two campus clinics available for routine eye exams and purchase of glasses and contact lenses.

  • UPC – at University Gateway Apartments, 3335 S Figueroa, Unit E (patients receive validation card for two hours of free parking)
  • HSC – 1450 San Pablo, 4th floor

Call (323) 442-6335 for appointments at either location. Both clinics offer full eye care services and all doctors are USC faculty members.

No matter what optometrist you visit, you do not need an ID card – the doctor will verify your eligibility using your Social Security number. However, you may print a card at the VSP site if you wish.
